Josh Mathews at RVA GameBreak has previews of this year’s Armstrong HS Boys Basketball Team and Girls Basketball Team.

BOYS / The team this year has no seniors, but a lot of speed and athleticism to play the traditional style of Armstrong basketball- pressure defense and hustle.

[Coach Watts] said that he sincerely believes that his team will be in the discussion for a state championship in the future, but isn’t sure if it will manifest this year or next. With a young, loaded roster with athletic pieces that will only get better as they gain experience together, the [#7] Wildcats are a team to watch, one that will likely operate from under the radar.

The boys season kicked off last night with a 68-58 over Essex HS from Tappahannock. The first home game of the season will be this Friday, 12/4 at 7:30 PM vs #3 in the region George Wythe.

GIRLS / [Coach ] Middleton was not shy about his team’s goals- to win the Conference 26 championship, and then to compete for a region and state championship. Two Conference 26 teams advanced to the state semi-finals last year, as it’s felt by many coaches in the conference that it could be them next. “We want to play our last game of the year at VCU,” said Middleton.

Anybody got a link to the girls’ schedule anywhere? Hasn’t been updated for this year on MaxPreps.
