Don’t warm your cars up unattended
12/10/2015 7:57 AM by John M
Seen on Facebook, from the Fairmount area:
Church Hill and surrounding areas: don’t warm your cars up. 3 known cars stolen in the morning in the last week. One is mine. No pity. Just a heads up.
Keep your eyes open for a blue 2003 Volvo XC70 station wagon.
No one has the right to take your stuff!! I don’t care if your car isn’t locked or you leave your bike in your yard or you weren’t hanging on to your purse with a vengeance!! It doesn’t belong to the person who taking advantage of what they see as an ‘opportunity’. I just don’t get this ‘blame the victim’ attitude. It can happen to any one of us because no one can keep their guard up 24/7/365. We are all vulnerable at some point.
Well said, Kathleen! Anthony and Nora, I’m so sorry this happened. None of us deserves this and as you said, it was the result of you guys wanting your kids to be warm. Hardly a punishable “offense”. Hopefully your car is found quickly.
There are a lot of “duh” moments in life, but everyone still does them. I don’t mind being kindly reminded.
Sorry about your Volvo, OP. That sucks.
Considering anyplace safe enough to leave keys in a car to warm a car is more trust in humanity than you should be willing to give. I know they have automatic car starters which have safety features that prevent theft. If you are going to warm the car then invest in that.
