Can you help bring kolaches to Church Hill?

Heather Horak has been working towards launching Craft Kolaches for a good while, and will begin selling this season at the South of the James Farmers Market starting May 7. A Church Hill resident, she’s been looking for commercial kitchen space up here the whole time, with little luck.

Urban Set Bride’s Christine Greenberg is sponsoring an online fundraiser to help change this.

A commercial space became available very suddenly,” Christine says, “and she needs a little more capital to be able to commit to the space and get going. If you have time to share the post or donate a few dollars, it would mean the world!”

From a Richmond Magazine piece back in December:

Kolaches, pronounced kuh-LAH-cheez, are little meals-in-bread pockets, and they hail from the Czech Republic by way of Texas. Let’s go ahead and coin the term Czexan right now — you’re welcome, proper-noun Scrabble cheaters. Horak’s new small business, Kolache, offers breakfast kolaches stuffed with eggs, sausage, gravy, and other morning favorites, as well as sweet-filled kolache varieties containing jam, pulped fruit, cream cheese, poppy seeds or a combo. Horak’s great-grandmother’s recipe is what you’ll be tasting when you sample the Kolache brand.”

The fundraising goal is $2,000, with $335 already raised as of this morning. Donate here →
