Recycling expanding to cover more plastic coming soon
05/26/2016 7:18 AM by John M
From 5th District Council representative Parker Agelasto:
Residents will able able to recycle ALL plastic containers and bottles with #1-#7 labels (currently we can only recycle #1 & #2). We will be able to add yogurt cups, sour cream containers, plastic take out containers, butter tubs, etc.
Central Virginia Waste Management Authority are also adding cartons (milk, orange juice, juice boxes, soup, etc.) which were traditionally not recyclable because of the wax coating.
TAGGED: recycle
Hooray! On a sort of related note, any idea how to get waste management to empty a blue and green recycling can that our neighbors have clearly filled with garbage and not recycling? Seeclickfix wasn’t successful, so any other suggestions?
I just spoke with CVWMA and they said there has been NO SET START DATE to start accepting additional items but it is in the works. July 1 is not necessarily true… may want to redact this article even though it was posted on Councilman Agelasto’s Facebook page…
Thanks for following up. I edited the above to be less specific.
SOOO excited! Been waiting for this day (or the day soon to come). Next request: weekly pickups and organic waste.
STARTING JULY 1
