Down to eight candidates to be Richmond’s next mayor
06/23/2016 8:47 AM by John M
We’ve updated our Guide to the Richmond Mayoral Race 2016 to reflect the candidates who did not collected the required signatures.
TAGGED: election
Jack Berry cannot be trusted. He should NOT be elected Mayor.

Scott, you are hilarious. Progress and good music disturbed an unused towpath, (who tows things on paths these days?) and you have made representing the offended towpath your Cause?
If a politician can’t find a way around myopic special interests, they aren’t ready to be mayor of Richmond. At all.
And yes, Save-the-Towpath sounds short sighted and almost mean-spirited when pitted against the public good of the amphitheater.
I’m not saying he’s got my vote yet, but Scott, your constant linking to that article, which I’ve read, is working for Jack Berry’s candidacy, not against it.
This has nothing to do with music. Part of the reason I keep posting it is because the local corporate media still has NOT acknowledged what really happened. Jack Berry dishonorably reneged on his repeated promise to community and government.
That OHHIC press release is weak. Let it go. You pick odd battles.
Give me serious criminal allegations, not a mild breech of character. Shit, give me a Marion Berry, as long as he does a good job.
Can anything be worse than the current mayor? Hopefully this election will attract enough attention, make people dig deep, forget about the petty bs and elect a mayor that produces results not churches.
I, for one, will miss the entertainment value that has been lost with L. Shirley Harvey no longer in the race. But we still have Joe Morrissey for sheer unpredictability.
Although I am definitely not crazy about the idea, this is Levar’s to lose. The mayoral electoral system in Richmond, combined with presidential election turnout, makes it hard to imagine a way he loses unless he screws it up massively.
Question re Mr Stoney, I hear he is well liked, and deeply well connected politically. Does he have other things to recommend him? Has he run anything? I ask because I really do want someone to get Richmond back on track fiscally, fill the potholes, mow the grass, fight the Zika, hire and retain the police and firefighters , collect the taxes, invest wisely. You know, all that stuff. And make a fun and attractive city for us all. Is he that person?
no7. that person that you pine for is not on the ballot
I’d like to add that Alan Schintzius (and six voters who claim they were unjustly disqualified) are suing the city over its decision to prevent Schintzius from running (6 signatures short). Attny. Paul Goldman is handling the suit. Schintzius may well end up on the ballot, despite the effort to keep him out.
