SOL results show little surprise; years of principal shuffle continue to take toll at MLK Middle School
08/18/2016 1:31 PM by John M
The most recent Standards of Learning (SOL) test results were released earlier this week, with little surprise for the neighborhood schools. Like the district overall scores were relatively flat, with some ups and downs.
Years of principal shuffle, though, continues to take it’s toll at MLK Middle School, which saw pass rates at or below 20% in 3 of the 5 subject areas. Veteran educator Jeryl Scott has taken over the reins for 2015-2016.
Bright spots include Fairfield Court ES, Bellevue ES, and Franklin Military Academy.

I would say it’s irresponsible as a blogger to assign cause to principal turnover…how did you come to that conclusion?
@Jomo – I taught at MLK through 2 of the last 4 principals, and still have a fairly strong connection to the school. I was teaching at the school the last time it was accredited, and saw first hand how the environment there fell apart. – John
Fair enough, spoke out of turn. Appreciate the response.
At what point do we ask the students and the parents to take some responsibilty?
