Have you seen a small dog in a pink hoodie?

From Gretchen:
Have you seen Miss America aka Harriet?
Miss America escaped from the backyard of 415 N. 26th Street at approximately 11:50 am on Monday, December 19. She is a small gray mutt (probably a poodle/rat terrier mix), and she weighs approximately 13 pounds. She is wearing a pink collar with a tag as well as a pink hoodie. She is very friendly. If found, please call Gretchen (804-564-6715) or Tom (804-564-6713). Reward Offered.
TAGGED: pets
I know this does not help and hope Miss America is found but, how do so many small dogs get loose in Church Hill? Don’t the owners check their yards and plug escape routes? Or call them indoors or pick them up and hold them when people are in the yards while opening doors and gates? Missing pets are almost getting to be an epidemic.
I think it would be better to post helpful comments rather than criticizing what people may or may not be doing. If you see her, please contact the owners. This must be a difficult time for them, and I believe it would be better to leave words of encouragement or share the post. Let’s think of the dog being out in the cold while you’re sitting on your warm, cozy chair of judgment.
PRAYERS AND WARM THOUGHTS FOR HARRIET AND HER FOLKS. I’LL BE LOOKING FOR HER WHILE I WALK MY PUPS.HOPE SHE IS HOME SOON. PROBABLY ALREADY DONE THIS BUT MAKE SURE TO CHECK WITH CHURCH HILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL AND RICHMOND ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL.
Miss America aka Harriet is home! Thanks to the wonderful man who found her. And thanks to the entire Church Hill community.
According to Lost & Found Dogs of Richmond, Miss America has been reunited with her people.
Oh, holy heck, Eric – some dogs are escape artists!! Or mistakes happen!! In his younger days, my JRT escaped more times than I can count, despite my best efforts. Everyone in Chimborazo knew him. I had a GPS unit on his collar so I could track him in alleys and under houses. He’s 15 1/2 years old now and it’s a miracle he lived to this age with all his escapades. Call down the people that never look for their dogs when they are lost or outright dump them. Harriet’s mom is probably sick with worry right now and doesn’t need to hear negativity or criticism.
Yay another good ending, she is back home!
Eric has a point. While I am not casting any blame here, it does seem that there are TONS of owners looking for their lost pets in the neighborhood. More than there should be. In my 47 years on the planet, I have never had an animal go missing outside of the house. Maybe I am lucky, but it does seem like there is more of it than just random chance would create.
First, GREAT News that this baby is back home safe.
.
@8 Thank You BAF. We love animals and hate abuse so, I am NOT totally heartless. We are parents to a 15 year old puppy mill rescue (and had other rescues in the past) so know I would be freaking out as well. But at the same time, we are very alert and protective of our fur baby, especially since she now has physical issues. Hindsight is 20/20 and people do make mistakes but, as you and I are observing, there seems to be more pets going missing than should be in Church Hill for various and sadly sometimes due to neglect and deliberate reasons. People who abandon pets should be shot.
BAF you are lucky to have had no issues. I lost a dog because a delivery person did not properly close a screen door.and another person lost his dog because an off leash dog ran up to him and got aggressive, terrified the dog slipped out of the harness and bolted, of course the off leash owner just watched. stuff happens. and to you and Eric what is your statistical baseline that shows more dogs get lost in Church hill than other communities? It’s great that you two have had no issues with lost pets.Instead of pointing out your superior pet ownership skills which is what you are both doing, lets offer some compassion.
what you both are saying is the same as well i’ve been driving for X# of years and i’ve never been in a wreck. so people that have been must be bad drivers.These folks are not necessarily bad pet owners, life just happens. Glad Harriet is safe.:}
So happy to hear Harriet is safe. There’s no place like home for the holidays!
Your favorite next door neighbor ?
Thank goodness she is home safe!!! yay!!!
