We are also looking for an interesting concept to go here so if anyone knows of a good restaurant please keep this space in mind! We have 1,760SF of interior space and will hopefully have 720 SF of patio space. The building will be done August-October 2017! Stay tuned or call/email anytime.

I’m working on a Thai Place as well as a sushi too concept too. No takers just yet but courting 3-4 concepts.
I love it. This is on par with infill you’d see in DC. Brick with black windows is a more expensive way to build, but the result is so nice for so long! It’s true commitment to church hill.

Hey, Matt Jarreau…most of us who live in Union Hill are proud of our very distinct neighborhood! How about letting people who are interested in this project know that it’s not in Church Hill.

@26 It’s beyond me. I’ve been in Union Hill for 3 years and still consider it a part of church hill.

I grew up in Richmond and we always called that area Church Hill. Gentrification comes and all of a sudden people want to be distinct. What about courting a black restaurant owner like Croaker Spot.
Yeah, that’s very weird to me. I have to say, though, I’m not really a fan of placing this restaurant here. Cedar Street Baptist has a really deep, rich history and I think it needs to be maintained. This would clutter the area and make it even more difficult for patrons who have been attending this church for years, to get there.
It is true, this is considered part of Union Hill. By the National Registry of Historic Places, the 2001-2002 Union Hill Historic District designation (VDHR # 127-0815), this triangle falls just inside Union Hill.
I am for the addition on this vacant lot as long as the architecture flows with the 19th century designs next door and near by per CAR guidelines for new infills.
Union Hill and Church Hill used to be separated by a ravine that ran down Jefferson Avenue’s current location to the James Rover. When the ravine was filled, the distinction between the two communities became much less pertinent.

As far as this project, I can personally vouch for Matt Jarreau being a stand up guy.
He’s been working behind the scenes for many years to advance Church Hill’s growth and prosperity.
I definitely trust him to keep the communities in mind, which IMO is evident in him reaching out to civic associations in the area and being active in the CHPN community.
As far as I’m concerned, he and Ernie Chamberlain are the go-to guys for real estate in Church/Union Hill these days. I fully support this project.
