What could’ve been for Glenwood Avenue

A copy of George Hoddinott’s Masters in Urban and Regional Planning project came in over the digital transom over the weekend, and is particularly interesting given the lackluster proposal for the old trolley barn site.
Hoddinott’s Sustainable Neighborhood: The Capacity to Endure (12MB) is a 90-page look at what kind of community could be built on the undeveloped land between Glenwood and Government Road, and imagines high-density, mixed-income new urbanist residential built on a street grid, and a mixed-use commercial space including a grocery store.
So they zoned it R-63 to entice some urbanist pie-in-the-sky type development and instead we’re going to get a large section-8 apartment building. With probably even more of the same on the adjacent parcels… sigh…
Did I not see mention of the M St landfill?

So is this building going to be built?
At this time, the plan to develop Glenwood Ridge includes exclusively low income housing and NO services. Exactly the opposite of what ‘could have been’
Does anyone know about status updates for the demolition permit for the trolley barn, approval for current developer’s plan, etc with the city?

I’m gonna keep it short and mention all the bad reasons listed on this thread as well as some solid reasons listed on previous threads. If there are enough delays the deal could fall through!
The artist concepts would have been a really nice anchor for rebuilding the community. I like them considering this is not a protected neighborhood.

Man, a grocery store would be nice.
