New construction on 32nd Street
02/16/2017 6:20 AM by John M
The new mixed-used building at 32nd and Marshall is well underway. Anyone heard anything about who or what might be going in the commercial space?

I have heard a restaurant will be going in on that block. It could be there or the old store that just sold across the street.
As long as it’s not another Urban Farmhouse!
So good to see this being reported on! Just moved here in August and live close by. Our boys are loving watching the machines and the workers everyday! We’ve been dying to know what it’ll be!
I know the old BW has tentative plans for a restaurant down and living up. Originally, back when the new construction was in conception faze, they said offices down and living up.
@1 I heard the restaurant is going in across the street – total $1.5M to purchase and renovate with an opening in 90 days.
Not sure I believe all on that tho.
Wow…that better be one wildly successful restaurant in Church Hill to justify a $1.5 mil investment!
@SarahontheHill – you talking about the old Blue Wheeler space? From what I hear, any restaurant planned for that is *much* further out
Digging the single step parapets but not the tacked on balconies in a historical neighborhood. Hoping it will have a brick veneer facade to match the surrounding buildings.
@John M – yes. A friend who was looking at buying the space himself is the one who told me. I am super skeptical about the 90 days too.
@Eric,
FYI, not all the houses on that block are brick, in fact only 3 out of 8 are brick. So to match the surrounding buildings (including the two across the street), non-brick would actually match the bulk of surrounding structures….
@10 Daniel… maybe so but “immediate” does include next door and next door are 2 brick structures, the building across the street, and another business/residence 3 structures behind it. A business building with modern paneled sides in this mostly Victorian neighborhood would look like shit, and still think the balconies overhanging the sidewalks are inappropriate and not sure how they were allowed? But on closer inspection, I do see that they will be using a brick veneer an so, it will not stick out like a sore thumb.
