Can you volunteer to help with adult literacy classes?

03/10/2017 7:54 AM by

The folks behind the adult literacy classes at the East End Library branch on 25th Street are looking for volunteers!

The READ Center will hold free tutor training courses on April 18th and 19th, and May 17th. During the training, tutors will learn about the local need for adult literacy tutoring, the mission of The READ Center, and practical techniques for working with adult learners.

Volunteer tutor candidates are encouraged to contact The READ Center at (804)288-9930 or visit readcenter.org to sign-up for the training or to ask questions about becoming an adult literacy tutor.

The READ Center’s mission is to help adults with low-level literacy develop basic reading and communication skills so they can fulfill their roles as citizens, workers, and family members.
