Double shooting at Creighton
03/23/2017 6:15 AM by John M
One victim was shot in the chest and taken to Richmond Community hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. He was later transported to VCU Medical Center. The second shooting victim was struck in the arm and was expected to be OK.
I heard the gunshots early this morning. Wasn’t sure which direction.
Why does Richmond need to have more public housing per capita than Chicago, New York, or LA despite not having anywhere near the economic ability to support it?
@J because we have more underprivileged people per-capita.
@2- Well.. what can be done about it? Move public housing to the counties, who will promptly have kittens over the matter?
@2 where is that info from?
@3, I think you mistake a chicken and egg. near-free housing is also an invitation. And where is your information from? Do we really? By what manure?
@4 How about, for a start, we stop building MORE?
I think Dubois2 meant “By what manner?”
Dubois2, I did FOI requests from the Housing Authorities and compared it with latest census estimates.
@6, thank you. Autocorrect is a cruel master:)
@7, thanks.
Two questions for those of you who support more public housing (glenside, Creighton expansion): Why would a city like Richmond seek to have more public housing?
Are we currently meeting our obligations relative to our existing public housing? (are the facilities humane? are they functional as temporary housing in concert with programs to get people back on their feet? is crime being handled in the courts? are we affording this without short-changing the things that build the tax base we need in order to have the money to be able to support our less-fortunate neighbors?)
