Where is this??? I was going to see if they were interested in selling when they had it parked in Scotts Addition, but they’d left when I came back the next day!
Not seeing the back of this bus, it looks like there are no license plates. It shouldn’t be hard to find out from neighbors who owns it but, all vehicles has to have up to date tags, inspections, and insurance to be parked on the street. And as you can see on the notice, can not be in the same spot for more than 10 days at a time. Though this is not always enforced, it will be for vehicles not known or unregistered.
§ 102-362.1 says an inoperable vehicle can not remain on a public street for more than 48 hours.
§ 102-361 also talks about 48 hours a well as the 10 days not being moved and considered abandoned.
@2 Gina Fuller, This is a rear engine diesel bus and can be expensive to run and maintain. Gas tanks come in 60 and 100 gallon sizes and they get around 8-10 mpg on the highway. Tires alone are a small fortune for this size vehicle ($300-$600 each depending on quality). It would make a great camper, a private mobile library, or even a community food truck.
@Eric Huffstutler Thank you for the advice, you are right – it’s not a cheap one to maintain. I’m actually very familiar with the vehicle type, as I drove one for 7 years as a bookmobile. I’m looking to convert a vehicle to a camper and this one couldn’t be more perfect for myself, boyfriend and our dog!
The license plate is on the front dash, I was going to try to track down the VIN when I found it today, but sadly, it has escaped me again. 🙁
Oh my!

Good looking out!
Is it just me or does this look less like a Bookmobile and more akin to a kill-mobile or pedophiless lair?
@Gina Fuller Blue Sky Fund is selling a bus if you are looking for one!
A little history of this vehicle and it’s life as a bookmobile, can be seen here:

@13, that doesn’t look like the same bus…. is it?
How’d it get from Jersey city here?
@Amanda Payne Thanks for that heads-up!
@14 Dubois2, it is a different bus – different manufacturer.
This listing from Charlottesville looks like the same bus?
