From Michael:
We saw and fed this girl on Clay Street, between 25th and 26th. She was very friendly so I wanted to see if anyone was missing a cat.
In general, you shouldn’t feed healthy looking cats. It probably isn’t lost or stray, just roaming the neighborhood. Probably has a nice bowl of food waiting at home.
He’s a stray that my neighbor takes care of on 24th and Clay. He’s an outdoor cat that loves my front porch cushions. ?
Cats that are outside in a busy neighborhood should wear a collar or identification (there are safe break-away collars available so they don’t get caught anywhere). There are quite a few missing cat posters around. It is sometimes difficult to know if they have a home or if they are strays. It seems like it would be ideal if this cat found a permanent home? At the very least neutered.
Mandy, do you happen to know if your neighbor is planning on getting it neutered or attempting to find it a permanent home?
@Rochelle
Break away collars are great in theory. As soon as a cat realizes it can remove them, they will never keep them on and it’ll become litter in the street. The best thing to do is get them chipped.
