Double shooting on 22nd Street
06/22/2017 10:28 PM by John M
WTVR is reporting a double shooting at 22nd and U Streets:
Police are working a double shooting in Richmond’s Church Hill Thursday evening that sources said wounded a child and an adult.
Officers said the call came in just before 7:30 p.m. along 22nd Street and U Street in the East End. Crime Insider sources said that a 7-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man were hit by gunfire.
Oh for the love of God, Richmond. Get yourself together!
Levar stoney needs to get rid of this police chief and bring back Rodney Monroe, or someone from his administration. I don’t know how Rodney Monroe did it, but in the mid 2000s, this city was averaging 30 murders a year. Now it feels like the late 90s all over again.
Chief Durham was a key member in Rodney Monroe’s command staff when Monroe was Richmond’s chief.
@ray That’s correct, but if you remember, he left Richmond to go to DC in 2007. I don’t know what he’s doing, or if he’s implementing the policies of Mr. Monroe, but crime in Richmond has gradually gotten worse since he got in office. He needs to go. Rodney Monroe turned this city around, in regards to crime, because at one point, this city was dangerous, and it seems that it’s getting back that way
@Will Hall
I don’t believe he changed much. In fact it was a national deduction in crime during those years. Also there was still a assault rifle ban and one gun a month law I believe. But now that Trump is in office and probably will be for 9 more years don’t expect another assault rifle ban.
Gangs, rivalries and despair: Inside the youth-driven violence in Richmond’s public housing communities

It’s almost as if the RTD came to CHPN.net and read my comments then took to the streets to see if the sauce on the spaghetti was real! And it is!! I told you guys these public housing neighborhoods have 3 and 4 gangs operating inside them
It’s also hurting that the city doesn’t have the resources to keep police officers…the department is not fully staffed and they are bleeding experienced officers to the counties who pay better and where it is often not as dangerous. City Council has proposed to better fund but this has to also be heard from voters and residents. I urge everyone to attend Newbille’s 7th district meetings, the police are always there and speak to this in addition to sharing stats about what’s been going on in the respective precincts.
