Anybody recognize this woman?
07/19/2017 3:21 PM by John M
From Melanie:
[Tuesday], at 11:30 am, a woman walked through the alley beside my home and appears to have taken pictures of my property. The video clip can be accessed by clicking on the following link: https://arlo.netgear.com/#/viewShared/1A5B561A5F598802_201707
Any help would be appreciated. My husband and I are not terribly excited about a stranger coming onto our property and taking photographs.
Do you have an application pending before CAR or for a building permit?
I had some kid doing the same thing yesterday but I confronted him. He said he worked for absolute appraisals. He had no ID or paperwork to prove this to me. He had no real answers as to why he was doing what he was doing. He was in a older white impala I got the tags it was a Kentucky plate. I even called the appraisal place no one answered and from the info I got from their site they are contracted to do this but I never ordered one. I still do not have a lot of answers as to why they do this.
Maybe she liked the style of your deck and is thinking of putting something similar on her house?
Someone doing comps for an appraisal near by, maybe? Has your house been sold relatively recently?
Could she be with the City of Richmond? I know they did the same at our house. They have the pictures of the rear patio space on file in the City records. They had to climb atop a retaining wall, and then take a blind photogtraph over a tall fence to get the shot.
If she is planning to submit an application to CAR, she has to provide photos of neighbors who have done similar modifications. Maybe she wants to do something similar to what you’ve done
The city also occasionally updates the pictures of properties in their records, particularly if the property was recently sold or modified.
Also possible if you just changed insurance companies it could be a company rep doing a replacement cost for them…
Whoever she is and for whatever reason she wanted or needed the pictures, she should have asked for permission first. IMO
Is that the entire clip?
This is so meta.
I agree with gale. With all of the suspicious activity surrounding our neighborhoods, a knock on the door or a note as to why she was there would have been nice.
That is so strange. Have you been able to find out anything else since posting?
To answer your questions, we don’t have an application with CAR. Our house hasn’t been sold recently nor have we switched insurance companies. This is the entire clip, unfortunately. We’ve changed our settings since to capture longer video in the future.
It’s certainly reasonable to suggest that someone might be interested in building a similar deck or seeking comps; however, as gale pointed out, it would have been polite to knock on our door first.
I’m also planning to inquire with the city to find out if they sent someone over.
I see an animal hopping around in the back, I wonder if she was looking for it.
I doubt she’s a professional documenting for the city/insurance/real estate, because her phone isn’t in the picture-taking mode as she walks up and she seems to only photograph the tree. Have tree issues?
No, we don’t have any tree issues.
Tree issues? too darn funny.
I think I do. Can you please make the clip available at the link again?
JP, the clip was automatically erased after several days so I can’t repost. The image you see is what we have as this point. If you have any info, please let me know.
