07/19/2017 9:51 AM by John M
From Bryan:
A neighbor was robbed at knife point with a box cutter this morning at about 6:00AM on the southwest corner of 25th and East Clay. Assailant stole the victim’s purse and fled on foot west on Clay St. Description of the assailant: 5’7″ black male with bright red shirt, 170 lbs, maybe a mustache or facial hair. Description of purse: brown with pink accents.
Police were called and responded immediately. Please be on the lookout for purse assailant.
TAGGED: crime
There must be security footage from someone’s home or movie theater
Geez. No good.
I would love to see more cruisers just patrolling our streets. It’s rare to see them, other than going up and down 25th to get back to the precinct.
Could deter thieves and speeders/stop sign runners.
J.H. Christ. I’m so sorry this happened to them
@3 I totally agree, esp. about thieves deterring stop sign runners. Speeders – hmm, I got passed on a double yellow line, heading up Gov. Rd. to Broad St. the other day, then the guy blew through all the stop signs going down Broad St. Seriously ticked me off.
Seconded, Phil. Although I have to say they are extremely responsive when they’re called.
Please stop walking down the street on your cellphone not paying attention to your surroundings. Someone can walk up behind you and snatch your phone so quickly.
I have cruisers passing all day and evening long. Our police station is one street and 6 blocks away.
Shame to be robbed like that. I hope they find the guy.
I used to wear a body alarm as I’m a senior and walk or take the bus. I may have a purse with me but my billfold stays in a pocket. I also stay alert and aware of my surroundings.
Police who responded to the scene were helpful and very polite. They mentioned that a lot of their patrol time has been spent in the parks, but they will increase their street patrols.
The City Of Richmond Police Department should put a camera at this intersection and several others in the neighborhood. That will deter this kind of behavior.
We can not let this start happening around here. I will be very vigaliant wayching and talking with others about what they see on a daily bases
@8 Rita – you just reminded me I need a whistle on my keychain. I’m at this intersection about this time every morning. Difference is I usually have my 70# dog with. This morning was too hot and she couldn’t make it that far! YIKES.
