Missing this little dog?
08/03/2017 8:00 AM by John M
From Wes:
I couldn’t bring myself to leave him at the shelter tonight because he’s very sweet so I suppose he’ll be staying on my porch overnight in hopes that someone claims him. I went to animal control and had him listed as a stray/lost and maybe someone will find him on that site.
If no one claims him by tonight I’m going to have to drop him at the Richmond Animal Care and Control tomorrow [THURSDAY] morning. My dog is a spoiled only child and is not looking for a sibling.

please do not take him to the shelter, I will keep him until we can find his home.
He is not mine but I love him already. I too have a spoiled only child dog but if he isn’t too young she might be able to get used to him. Any idea how old he is?
Thank you so much for the responses. A friend found a place for him to stay last night and they may even keep him if the owner doesn’t show up. I’ll give you guys an update when I speak with them later. Your kindness is greatly appreciated!
The pound is not the place for him. He is adorable! I will be happy to do all I can to locate his owners and If they cannot be located – I will assume ownership and he will be well taken care of and loved.
If no one claims him please contact me. My mother would love a little dog like this.

The humane society and/or animal control may seem scary, but it’s also exactly where his owners will be looking for him. If you bring the dog in, you can communicate with the (wonderful) staff about your intentions to assume ownership if he isn’t claimed and they will follow up with you. If you don’t have success finding the owner through a Facebook group, the best way to reunite the dog with his family is through either the SPCA or RACC.
Was this posted on Nextdoor? That’ll help get the word around.
I spoke with Richmond care and animal control and they took a picture, scanned him for a chip (no chip), and listed him as lost on their website. The little guy is currently happily residing with a friend while we wait on a response.
I also posted the babe on nextdoor and Craiglist.
Hi. I’m sorry what is Nextdoor? Is this a website if so I’ll like to signup.
The SPCA is nicer than my freakin’ house Okay not quite, but it’s pretty nice.
Nextdoor is a community type social media. There is an app and a website. People post everything from missing pets to city news to city events to things for sale and more.
Church Hill Animal Clinic may know the owner, or Pets at Play…
I agree with Julia Brouard that will be the 1st place I would look for my dog.
I can take him for a while!!!
This looks just like the dog that is usually in one of the backyards of the houses between Venable and Burton across from the Citadel of Hope. Looking at Google maps, I think the address is 2237. The pup that barks at me and my dog every afternoon may have a nearby twin, but I think it’s more likely it squeezed out of the fence.
There’s nothing wrong with richmond animal control. They post online if the pet is missing and can scan for a microchip. If no one claims him after a while, he will be up for adoption. They are no kill just like the spca
I think this is a French Papillon… I am certain this dog has an owner who is probably distraught over losing him!
At least I hope the owner didn’t dump him!
Mrs Townsend, you may have to adopt another one! 🙂
was the owner found?
