BrewBQ

Sun Aug 20 12:00 pm
Only two ingredients are needed for a perfect summer day in RVA – Beer and BBQ! Join us for the Bottom’s backyard barbecue on Sunday, August 20 from 12-5pm.

Whether you’re North Carolina, Virginia, Texas – HECK we’ll even accept Alabama – Enrichmond’s BrewBQ will have something for you! Our traditional ‘quers include: Church Hill favorite Alamo BBQ, The Halligan Bar & Grill, Inner City Blues, Smok N Pigz, Firehouse Bar-B-Que, and Jadean’s Smokin’ Six O. We’ll have international twists on BBQ as well – Jamaican Cafe on Wheelz and Chef Mamusu’s Africanne Restaurant will be at the party!

Pair your favorite BBQ with a craft beer from our stellar lineup of Greater Richmond craft breweries. Beer lovers welcome – we have 15 breweries on tap!

The tunes will be provided by local favorite The Shack Band. Look for them to take the stage at 1pm and to play until 4pm.

Come for the BBQ and brews, stay for the live music, cornhole, and friends. Our backyard is your backyard. BrewBQ is presented by and benefiting the Enrichmond Foundation.

NEW Location and Parking:
For 2017, BrewBQ will operate at a temporary location at 1615 East Broad Street, one block from 17th Street Market. Ample free on street and paid parking is available in adjacent parking lots on 17th and Grace Streets. Enrichmond’s Festivals will return to the Market in 2018, following this summer’s highly anticipated renovation.
We will provide free Bicycle Parking right next to the festival.

Entry Fee:
$1 suggested entry donation to Enrichmond for Shockoe’s backyard barbecue. Enrichmond is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Your attendance supports Enrichmond’s mission to enhance Richmond parks and activate its public spaces.

Other info:
Feel free to bring lawn chairs – we’ll have live music to dance to, tents to kick back under, as well as a Chair Check service. Your four-legged friends are welcome – must be socialized, leashed, and please keep in mind the hot summer temperatures! Our Kids Zone will return with planting activities, coloring, and more!

For more details on this year’s festival or vendor information, please contact events@enrichmond.org.
This is a rain or shine event!

Jr Iron Chef Competition – A Community Event

Sat Aug 26 11:00 am
The NRC, Peter Paul Dev Center, Fit4kids, and Shalom are partnering to offer youth in the east end the opportunity to participate in a Jr Iron Chef Competition at Peter Paul Dev Center in Church hill. The competition will be free for the public.

During the competition, we will have local non-profits, community based orgs and farms set up info/demo tables and farmstands highlighting gardening, food, health, nutrition, and access. The NRC will be giving away seeds and seedlings and a select number of Good and Cheap (a SNAP cookbook) to SNAP participants. The purpose of this community event is to highlight and work toward tackling the issue of food insecurity in the est end and to connect community members to resources right in here in their neighborhood in hopes that they can work toward eating healthier and finding access to fresh, whole foods. This program is sponsored by Whole Foods Market, Hamilton Beach, a number of Church Hill restaurants and community members and is in partnership with a number of Church Hill based organizations and other community partners.
