Fight for 15 rally today at Wesley Memorial, Main Street Station
09/04/2017 7:31 AM by John M
According to the event’s Facebook page, fast-food workers and other community organizations plan to start the rally at 6 a.m. at the McDonald’s on Hull Street and then make their way to Wesley United Methodist Church on Mechanicsville Turnpike for a “I Am Somebody” viewing and community brunch. The rally will conclude at the Main Street Station Plaza from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Comedy Central.
Great idea. Punish the very employers who are willing to employ the young, the inexperienced. And a good recipe for accelerating technologies that will replace such employees.
Oh well . . .
mcdonalds at blvd and broad is an absolute disgrace
Why not get the education necessary to land a job that merits paying $15/hr?
@4 That requires effort.
Brian, unfortunately you are 100% correct.
We are already starting to see more automation. There is no one working at the registers early in the am at Farm Fresh – only self checkout. Panera has gone to a choice of using a kiosk. Any other examples? I foresee this happening more and more.
How about McDonalds fire half of the 14 workers they having working on a day shift, make them work twice as hard, and pay the 7 left $15 an hour.
If they don’t greet customers, have a smile on their face, dress and act professional… fire them and find someone that will.
Also just curious, does McDonalds even drug test their employees? I know Lowe’s does…. any they start our paying cashiers like 11 or 12 an hour.
Now on a side thought…. How does Chick-Fil-A pay its workers and managers next to nothing, they are closed on sundays, and still manage to have the best customer service and keep the place packed EVERY day they are open?!?
I guess they didn’t hear about how “well” 15 an hour turned out in Seattle.
AWKWARD.

The McDonalds in the Bottom needs a new business plan. I can’t stand to go in there. Service is bad and they allow questionable people to loiter.
