MLK Day of Service, East End Cemetery Clean up (Updated time!)

01/10/2018 12:00 PM by

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day is a national holiday celebrated as a “day on, not a day off”. This is a great opportunity to recommit ourselves to serving each other and our community.

The Friends of East End is looking for volunteers to help transform this sacred space by clearing overgrowth. The CHPN Team has volunteered for this family friendly project over the past years events. It’s a great way to give some time and sweat to the community. There is a lot of history in these wooded cemeteries.

Please dress warmly and in layers in case you need to warm up or cool down. Bring your own work gloves; they will provide tools. Also bring some water. Carpooling is encouraged as there is limited parking space.

Volunteers are welcome to meet first at Oakwood Arts (3511 P Street) at 11 a.m. for coffee, tea, and a brief intro to the history of the cemetery and the ongoing restoration effort. We’ll be carpooling to East End, if you need a ride.
