Libby Hill attackers sentencing continued

Looking at the Virginia Courts Case Information (Richmond City Circuit), it appears that yesterday’s sentencing was continued until July 19th.
The four defendants are brothers Kelvin Leon Lightfoot, 17, and Kenard Rawshawn Lightfoot, 16, and cousins Rashard Leon Garnett, 15, and Travon Montra Garnett, 14. They pleaded guilty to charges of rape, sodomy, abduction with intent to defile and robbery. Each count carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. The judge had originally set sentencing for May 23.
The June 2005 Church Hill Newsletter has some more info…City Prosecuting Attorney Diane Abota says that the sentencing hearing had been delayed due to defense attorneys’ failure to provide som erequired documentation. Michelle Welch will urge the judge to impose life terms. Citizens are encouraged to attend the sentencing hearing when it occurs and to contact Ms.Abato if they have any questions.
Everybody makes mistake they r teenages who have tp spend half of there lives in jail. When its 25 yr olds gettin 3yrs gor killlin therr child. I wish it was somethin I can do I feel it need to be a resentence. My mother had 7 kidds n we all beghed for attention til this day none of us has heeled
This isn’t a human “mistake.” This is monstrous.
There’s the kind of “mistakes” that most people make because of poor judgment and then there’s the kind of evil that only someone lacking any moral compass can do.
While it sucks for your family, your brother and his friends are not someone we want roaming the streets again.
