Veney found not guilty in Walker slaying

Daniel Lee Veney was acquitted in in the July 2 shooting death of April Marie (John) Walker in the 2000 block of North 29th Street. [via]
Since this story was ran 10 years ago, I have had my name changed. I still maintain my innocence as I have then. April meant the world to me and there isn’t a day that goes by that she isn’t thought of.
I am asking that the community please help find her killer because he or she is still out there. I need the family to know their misplaced anger towards me is just that….misplaced. I loved April with everything in me. She was my fortress of solitude, my protector, my sage, my kick in the pants but most of all, my friend.
I called her “Grandma” because she was the only family I had. The only someone who truly cared for me.
