Respond to 7th district townhall meeting
01/25/2006 9:05 PM by John M
A lil’bird went to the 7th district town hall meeting and dropped some notes on us. Give your feedback or questions below.
- The place was packed.
- McQuinn was not present, Ellen Robertson acted in her place. ER came across as very personable.
- Capt. John Keohane and Lt. Hamlet Hood spoke. Motorcycle cops for the area are in training now. The police are working an organized attack on the drug markets. There is an undercover program in place that is apparently quite effective.
- Tractor trailers are not supposed to be parked on city streets?
- Gang activity in Fulton is a priority right now.
- To report drug activity, try to observe and report as much detail as possible. Try to observe how the deal is happening — behind a fence, in a potato chip bag, etc. Call 911 or the nonemergency #.
- To encourage police officers to live in the city, those in the city will get take-home cars.
- Loitering is not a crime, but blocking passage, using drugs, drinking openly can be reported. This report gives the police opportunity to approach individuals that might otherwise be unapproachable. Call it in!
- The fire department was there and had much to say. 2005 had no fire deaths, the 1st time in 15 years. The fire dept. does not like 4-way stops or speedbumps.
- One of the speakers almost said ‘projects’, corrected self to ‘RRHA properties’
- Sen.Henry Marsh was present and did not speak.
- Much library information was available. More of that will come later. We love the library.

Where was McQuinn?
Something medical — she hurt her knee, maybe.
Yeah, maybe, but her knee didn’t have to do the talking. I’m sure everyone would have been fine with her sitting down.
Mcquinn was on bed rest. I think its inappropriate to to say that her knee didn’t have to do the talking. As a matter of fact, you are stupid.
Anthony,
Thanks for taking an interest and the time to comment. This is your first comment here, I think. If you haven’t been looking at the site very long, you might not have noticed that name calling isn’t really how we do things. You made your point very clearly with your first two sentences.
Please contact me at jmurden@lestercat.net if you have any questions. Thanks.

Personally, I really don’t care. Its arrogance that sometimes speak before your mind thinks. If your doctor put you on bed rest, how would you feel if someone made a comment like that.It is what it is and it will always be.Rev. Mcquinn has done wonders for this district and you really should be ashamed of yourself. Rev. Mcquinn record speaks for itself. Don’t hate get out there and participate.Get to know her instead of listening to lies of arrogant folks like yourself.By the way, the bible says touch not thy anointeth. May God have mercy on you and your arrogance.
I’ve wiped some comments and locked this entry down. I haven’t to do this before, I’m going to take it as a sign of success at touching a nerve. I hope that the few of you that have had your words deleted will understand why I have rolled this conversation back a bit. Please contact me directly if you have any further comments or questions on this issue.
My take away is that there are some frustrated 7th district residents and some people that don’t want to hear this.
