Another look at the Church Hill House

Style Weekly has a great follow-up on the July murder of James Garner at the Church Hill House.
From the article:
Currently, one guard watches the entrance from behind a glass window and demands identification from visitors. (A Style reporter was asked for ID before being allowed in; Miller asserts, however, that people get in without showing identification. On a recent Tuesday, several men who did not appear to be residents lingered outside by the entrance.)
I know that almost every time that I pass though there, driving or on foot, there are always several non-elderly and usually rather menacing individuals loitering at the entrance, on that block between Burton and Venable, or at the corner of the Church Hill House at Venable.
Upon reading the Style Weekly article I note that VHDA administers the Section 8 housing vouchers and inspects the place annually. This means that Church Hill House falls under federal guidelines. So, if progress on fixing what needs fixing isn’t getting done at the local level, elevating the situation to the federal level is the logical next step. I have visited an elderly acquaintance there several times. Further, when this elderly fellow and I work together I hear a lot from him about dangerous situations that are ongoing.
