Neighborhood Roundtable
02/28/2006 3:49 PM by John M
The city has announced a new plan for keeping the neighborhoods in the loop called the Neighborhood Roundtable, to consist of one representative from each of the nine council districts. The rep for District 7 is Sharon Burton.
From the richmond.com article:
Burton told Wilder that she would like to start a Web site for the 7th district that would highlight community issues and post meeting times.
Gee, that sounds like a good idea… No, really. We’d really like to be that site…
I thought that was what city council was for. You know, ELECTED to represent the interests of the community (whether they do or not is an issue that should be dealt with at each election). Wow. Hizzoner has set up his own hand picked shadow city council. What’s next, ward bosses? I guess if we keep in mind that Sharon Burton merely represents the Mayor, not us, we can keep this move in perspective.
Does any know how we are supposed to be able to reach our Roundtable rep? I have searched the city web site and can’t find any concrete information.
