where are new houses being built?
05/17/2006 5:29 PM by John M
There is a foundation being dug at 21st and Marshall, there are 2 new houses going up on Q Street between 22nd and 23rd — where else are new houses going in or recently built?
TAGGED: real estate
3400 block E Marshall
500 block Chimborazo x2
3500 block E Clay
Looks like a foundation being dug at the southwest corner of Marshall and 21st (where Jefferson Avenue begins; across from Jefferson Park)
There’s a prefab abomination on the 2800 block of E. Leigh.
Ewww. Regular shingles are so out of place in this neighborhood. The whole house looks out of place. One benefit of adding on to the historic district would be to stop this McMansion invasion. It may be worth it even if I can’t paint my house a different color without committee approval.
What’s this? From the T-D…
Church Hill Fairmount; 2400 Burton St. and 1501 N. 21st St., interior remodels, including cabinets, appliances, sinks, lights, ceilings, paint, carpet, drywall, $3.1 million for the first, $2.7 million for the second.
up with historic, down with the prefab
Someone needs to tell the designer for Kodiak Homes( Cedar St, Jessemine St) that the rooflines he draws reminds one of a dormitory on a rather poor college somewhere. With a few more dollars put into a sloped roof with membrane roofing the return on the investment would be well worth it both financially and from an impact on the neighborhood standpoint.
Just my .02 worth
ralph on 22nd…which homes on jessamine st. are you referring to? the brand new structures in yellow on the right if you’re coming from jefferson ave?
yes Christy those are the ones….a duplex with yellow siding on one side and an off white on the other with a larger porch and steps. I suppose I shouldn’t complain…the other side of the coin is….at least people will be moving in.
Ralph, thanks for the reply. yea, they could have done a much better job with those. i’ve been riding my bike around the neighborhood lately and there’s just so much stuff going on everywhere, and i guess we shouldn’t complain about the progress. i’ve seen some that are much worse than the ones we were talking about, though. what part of the hill are you in?
have been in the 700 block of 22nd( Union Hill) since the summer of 2004. Soon after I got settled into my little cottage Better Housing put up a huge duplex next door….lost my morning sun but they did a fine job of what I call a modern reproduction. Kodiak could take a few lessons from them.
