The CHA’s bi-annual Alley Rally will be held Saturday, June 10, 2006. Do your part to clean the streets and alleys of Church Hill!
Meet at the Libby Hill Park House on Saturday June 10, 2006 at 8:00. Wear old clothes, heavy shoes and gloves. You may also want to wear a hat as the cleaning of alleys can be dusty and dirty. Come hungry! Breakfast will be served. The clean-up usually lasts about 2 1/2 hours.

Here’s your chance to get to know your neighbors and neighborhood better. Do something good for your community. I hope to see you there!
I notice that many of the alleys around here are paved with crush stone material. Our alley, however, is an ankle deep mud event each time it rains. Does the city pave these alleys? If so, how annoying is it to get them to do it?
Bob, That would depend on who owns the alley. It could be privately owned or still owned by the city. To find out you can call the office of the assessor of real estate and they should be able to tell you. If it is still city owned, you would need to make a request for improvement and it will be put on “the list”.
Keep making that request at least every 2 weeks. It took about 3 months to get crush run in my alley and mine was as bad as yours sounds.
Thanks for the tips…I never got around to the request (let alone every two weeks), but it appears someone did (or, could have the city done something absent a citizen complaint?!), as the first stage of an alley paving seems under way on old 22nd St.
Alley Rally is tomorrow 8am…Hope to see you there!
