nbc12.com has City marches on with revitalization of Church Hill about the recent demolition at 25th & Nine Mile.

The article has video footage of the area and an short interview w/ Delores McQuinn.

For three years, the city and community have been working to bring in some much needed businesses. “There had been a lot of talk all the time, about how we need another grocery store, we need shops, we need to be able to be in our community and buy a pair of panty hose, which seemed to be difficult,” says Rev. Delores McQuinn, a 7th District Council Member.

So homeowners like Hood will be relocated, which is just fine with him. And the neighborhood will get a boost. “It kind of serves as a catalyst for other organizations, for other private developers and for others that have an interest in coming back into the city,” says Velena Dixon, an RRHA spokesperson.

The project still has a way to go. In fact, councilwoman McQuinn says it will likely be 2-3 more years before they can get a developer in here and actually begin work on some of these large scale plans.

You can get more information on the plans at a meeting Saturday morning. It will begin at 11am at Mount Olivet Church on 25th Street.
