Name the new park!
02/22/2007 8:25 PM by John M
The new park at 23rd, Short Q, and Carrington Streets will be turned over to the city in the next month or two. New Visions Civic League is soliciting ideas to suggest for a name for this lil’park.
Some of the ideas already put forth include:
-
Carrington Park
-
Triangle Park
-
Points at Carrington
-
Carrington Triangle Park
Any suggestions?
That is going to be a really nice park to sell crack at. How about White Rock Park?
Steven, the blocks west and north of that park have probably seen the highest percentage value increase in the city over the past 8 years or so. Our house sold for $19k in 1998 and is worth closer to $200k today. Within 1 block of the park are at least 8 decent new houses that were built in the last 2 years and 5 or 6 new renovations.
I manage the duplex in front of this park. We have cleaned up the brush areas around the park, helping to ensure no “dark alleys”.
I have also been in contact with the local police department, and have requested special attention, and they have been giving additional drivebys. I’ve also seen them park in front of the park and sit for a half hour or more, just to observe and make their presence known.
There won’t be much crack selling going on here, and if there is, it will be dealt with swiftly.
