cbs6 spreads fear in sensationalist article
A little late, cbs6 has an article about the dogs issue that includes an unverified quote about a woman getting mauled by one the cat-killing dogs.
From the article:
He recently heard of a woman being preyed upon. He says, “She tried to stop the animal from attacking a dog in a fence and she got mauled.”
In 2 posts on chpn about the dogs, the killing dogs are still around (2/11/07) and dangerous dogs (1/3/07), that generated over 130 comments, and in the active discussion on the Church Hill Yahoo Group, there has been no mention of a woman getting “mauled”. This is dangerous rumour being spread by the so-called “real media”. It is very interesting that the often-slandered blogs have gotten this right and early, and cbs6 is 6 weeks late and faking it.
To the real reporters at cbs6: who was this woman that was attacked? When and where was she attacked? Is she ok? Does she really exist?
TAGGED: crime
“Pit bull” + attacks of any kind = sensationalist fodder for tv.
Happened not too long ago w/ the puppy that allegedly chewed off a toddler’s toes, turns out it was the family’s pet ferret. That fact was never reported on. 🙁
but “The Killing Dogs are Still Around” is not a sensationalistic headline?
Well, they have killed and they are still around so…not really.
Why aren’t we hearing anything in the news about the accountability of the pet OWNERS who most likely abandoned or abused these canines? I contacted Channel 6 with regards to this important point and received no response (surprise). “Wild” canines are not indigenous to an urban environment – abandoned canines are. Let’s use our heads, Channel 6, and cover all points of a story – it would have taken 10 seconds to mention the apathic owners in this situation who are afraid to come forward and face accountability for their negligence. Spring is here and we will again see pregnant dogs running the streets without proper medical care or even having their most basic needs met.
