our new sister site in Petersburg!

The Petersburg People’s News officially launched today…
We were contacted by Petersburg resident and transplanted Church Hill local Brenda Priebe a little while back. She had found this humble site to be somewhat useful when she lived in the area and wanted to set up something similar for Petersburg. We were glad to help and today the site officailly went live.
Congrats and good luck, Brenda!
Shouldn’t that be the Peter’berg Peoples News? I thought the S was silent.
Thanks so much to John for his assistance in getting Brenda’s site running!
chpn.net is a great asset to Richmond and the area and I know she hopes that pburgpn.net will be the same for the Petersburg area.

Rick – while Petersburg People’s News will be of obvious benefit to Petersburg residents, your post brings to mind another benefit: it will offer residents in surrounding communities an opportunity to discover the rich history, architecture, arts, talent, and energy the city has to offer its neighbors.
If you have yet to visit us, I highly recommend the evening of April 13, when Petersburg will not only be hosting its monthly Friday for the Arts, but also the Work Places and Living Spaces tour.
See you there!
In getting the Petersburg site together, I have really gotten the community-site code portable and user-friendly. If there is anyone in say the Fan, Northside, Forrest Hill/Manchester, Downtown, Jackson Ward/Carver, etc that wanted to jump into this, I can have you set up and going in 2 days.
Charlottesville’s Waldo Jaquith, one of Virginia’s web “idea people” and founder of cvillenews (among other sites), wrote a little about comunity blogs today and hipped me to a site that I didn’t know about, Harrisonburg’s hburgnews.
