Libby Park yard sale is tomorrow!
05/18/2007 6:46 AM by John M
Come on over, set up your stuff, and sell it to your neighbors! The big yard sale in Libby Park, affectionately known as the “Gargantuan and All Overshadowing All Church Hill Yard Sale”, will be held tomorrow, Saturday, May 19 starting at 9:00 AM (or maybe a little earlier?).
Call Chuck Wrenn at 788-1715 with any questions.
Also, don’t forget about the U of R/Sierra Club’s Great Big Yard Sale, where student leftovers are ‘recycled’, with proceeds going to Sierra Club.
It happens tomorrow as well at U of R.

Lock your doors… Several years ago, I was trying to sleep off a night on the town when my dogs woke my up at 7 am. I opened my bedroom door to find an elderly woman in my house complaining about a crappy selection of items. When I finally got her to make sense, she explained that she was looking for the yard sale items. This perplexed me, because I was not having a yard sale. I tried to explain this to her and get her to leave. She did not get it and refused to leave. Finally, I had to threaten to let the dogs escort her out of my house.
I heard today that there may also be a sale planned for Jefferson Park on June 9th.
I enjoyed reading about Ralph Malph’s encounter with an Old one. I personally had a delightful experience (though I sold nothing and bought an oriental rug and a chair) sitting across from lovely Libby Hill on a beautiful day when no one should have stayed inside. I met some whose names I knew but had never met, including the editor of CHPN.
Also, I could not believe it, when two people came up, we began to talk, and found that we were both from Charleston, West Virginia, and had much in common. Yard sales in Church Hill are not just to sell items. They are a great time to get to know your new neighbors.
I may not have sold anything, but I sure gained some lovely friends. Thanks Chuck Wren for having the perserverence
to keep High on the Hog and the Yard Sale going.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Yard Sale last Saturday. It was a beautiful day and a big success. And thanks especially to Chuck Wrenn for paying for the ad in the Times-Dispatch. Chuck – you are the best!
Yard Sale Purchased Merchandise Never Delivered – I purchased two lamps from two gentlemen (one black, one caucasian) selling vintage/old comic books and a variety of other items. Not only do they owe me additional change from my $20.00 but they never delivered the lamps to my house as promised.
