East End dump now collects hazardous waste
03/03/2008 6:30 AM by John M
The city’s new hazardous waste collection center operates during normal dump house (7AM-4:30PM during the week and 9AM-2PM Saturdays). Residents can dispose of waste solvents and paints; gasoline and other fuels; propane tanks; household cleaners; herbicides and pesticides; and other items. [via]
but the WILL NOT take old Liriope (monkey Grass).
are they picking up tires as well?
does anyone know if they will/already do take tires? FYI I was over there the other day and they had a TON of mulch and some great looking leaf compost for your spring gardens.
You can take 4 tires w/out rims per day.
Where can I recycle small batteries? Lowe’s won’t take them. Any suggestions?
Melinda, I believe that you can recycle them at Batteries Plus.
You can also take them to Staples.
How about compact fluorescent light bulbs? It wasn’t on the list for the dump.
TIRES: last time i took tires to the East End Dump, the staff person on duty said they would take 2 tires at a time, as long as they were not on the rims. Also, DPW will pick up tires at your home address if you phone in/enter a web request and provide an address.
I find the easiest way to get rid of unwanted trash is to find out where the next alley rally is being held and dump it there the night before 🙂
You could also get a cardboard box that a TV/stereo/computer comes in and fill it up and leave it in the back of your truck. It will disappear fast.
