A brief interview with Acting Director of the Department of Public Works Rosemary Green outlining the new ordinance regarding city residents responsibilities for timely removal and placement of Supercans and recycling bins from the public rights of way.

60 day warning period will be in effect until May 1 before fines are issued. Fines can be $50 per day after this warning period.

Other notes:

City Ordinance 2007-230-275, which was approved by City Council in November, allows receptacles to be placed on City property or in the public right-of-way no earlier than 4 p.m. the day prior to collection and requires the receptacles be removed by 7 a.m. the day after collection.”¨”¨In March and April, the City’s Department of Public Works will place yellow warning stickers on receptacles that must be removed. Beginning May 1, the department will begin issuing red violation stickers that carry a $50 per day fine for each receptacle. The fine will be assessed to residents and businesses through their monthly Department of Public Utilities bills.
