Summer and stolen lawnmowers
Remember: it is the season of minor property crime! Lawn equipment from yards and sheds, tools that can be resold or used to make money, are always popular targets. Make sure that your stuff is secure and keep an eye out on your block.
Want to get involved & stay in the know? Laura Daab (laura@mysterydinner.com) heads up the Block Captain program which covers much of the area. She can put you in touch with folks around you.
Towards staying informed: Shelby Long runs the Church Hill Crime Watch. If you would like to get on her phone tree, call her at (804)648-2710 or email her at shelbyshorttlong@aol.com. For another look at things, here on CHPN we have the crime map.
Finally, know your neighbors! Come out to the civic association meetings for your area and find out what is going on around you. The Church Hill Association, Union Hill Civic Association, New Visions Civic League, and Unity Civic League (among others) are all active and contributing to the neighborhoods on the hill .
That means that putting up signs like “Don’t steal bricks” isn’t really going to stop anyone…. which I saw the other day in the neighborhood.
John… the Church Hill crime map link isn’t loading.
Eric, Check it again. It’s seems fine from here.
Seems to be working now but about the same time I wasn’t able to get some of the CHPN pages to load so may have been a server fluke? Thanks.
