celebrate Libby Park

Friends of Libby Park and The Planters Society invite all interested in Libby Park to a review of the proposal for improvements in the Park and to celebrate a successful summer of the water brigade, responsible for keeping the new trees alive through the long, dry summer. Refreshments will be served. October 25th, 9-11AM.
TAGGED: Libby Hill
Prior to the wonderful celebration event for Libby Hill on the 25th … are there any major work projects that need to be accomplished in Church Hill or nearby communities?
CHA is looking for good neighborhood work projects that might take up to four hours for the Hands on Richmond event that is scheduled city-wide on 18 Oct 08.
Ideas, thoughts, suggestions, or projects….?
JJ
How about opening up some tree wells on some of the more “treeless” streets in the hill. Marshall Street would be a great candidate as well as the 300 block of North 29th. I’m sure there are others but these really stand out to me. Planting some trees here would make a huge difference.
If you get a tree through the Adopt-a-tree program (note the extended deadline!), if there ought to be a tree well at a location then there is a good chance that the space will get opened up. A good deal for $50, especially on a blank block.
Just to make certain that I understand, if a tree is purchased through this program…the City will arrange to have the tree wells installed? The problem in the locations I mentioned (aside from having no trees) is that the sidewalks are solid and without tree wells. I’ll check into the program. Thanks.
