Big plans or just a big sign?
01/19/2009 6:00 AM by John M
It looks like someone has new plans for the former KFC on Mosby for which Bishop Richard Hall had such grand ideas and which was later auctioned off.
This seems dicey at best: Googling both “BRD Land Development” and “BRD Land Developement” (sic) turn up no results. In addition, a tipster wrote in and says that “I checked the City’s Land Use Logbook and couldn’t find anything related to this property.”
My recent call to the number on the board was not returned. Anybody got anything good to share?
“DevelopEment”??! Seriously? Wow. Should be something really good.
BRD Land Development LLC registered with the State Corporation Commission on August 22 2008. The registered agent is a company in Alexandria that is a front for individuals that don’t want to show up on the SCC records.
One of the guys did call me back a little while ago. The plan is for new, mixed-use construction similar to pictured on the sign.
I put a plug in for the UHCA and suggested that they make contact, he seemed receptive.
It is typical in the course of business to have a professional service as a registered agent. Nothing untoward can be deduced based on that alone.
I don’t like the parking in front. Otherwise, we’ll see what changes since it seems it’s an idea right now. But I’d love to see it over that lonely KFC building and vacant lots.
Thank you for your comments and input. BRD Land Development, LLC is owned and operated by a team of highly skilled professionals who are dedicated to the community and its needs. Bert, a principal in our development group is a five year resident of Richmond and is also the owner of New Earth Construction,LLC the company which installed the first Green Live Roof in all of Richmond. It would be a pleasure to meet with the residents and discuss our plans and if anybody needs to contact me my e-mail is dfortecontract@aol.com Thank you again, Dennis
Cadeho, I agree with you about the parking up front, which is diametrically opposed to the city planners views on new commercial construction in the Union Hill area.
Dennis, have you submitted your plans to Community Development? The city planners have spent a lot of time in the neighborhood (during 2008) discussing the form-based zoning requirements they’d like to see in new B2, UB and R63 zoned commercial lots. Pedestrian friendly curb cuts and set backs that put cars behind buildings is the new theme for the neighborhood.
Please redesign your new construction to be compatible with the city planners new guidelines for Union Hill.
please consider coming to the next Friends of Jefferson Park meeting. Monday, January 26, 7pm at 2108 East Leigh Street. Meet your neighbors. Send me an email at junkifunki@aol.com
We have not submitted plans as of yet to Community Development, we wanted input first before developing further. The parking in front was placed there for the commercial stores, the rear elevation which was not posted shows the residential entrances and 10 covered parking spaces. I will ask Cornerstone (architect) for suggestions.
Thank you,
Dennis
