Watch Casablanca in Chimborazo Park
09/28/2009 3:39 PM by John M
Friends of Chimborazo Park has announced an encore installment of the popular Movie Night in the park series this Saturday October 3 at 8PM, with a presentation of the classic film Casablanca.
From the announcement:
Patrons are invited to bring food & drink, friends, and something to sit on and join us.
This event is Sponsored by Friends of Chimborazo Park and Yellow House.
Patrons are asked to make a small donation to cover the cost of licensing this film as well as to pay for security. If enough funds are raised, Family Movie Night in the park will become a regular occurrence in Chimborazo Park.
Note: The park closes immediately after the completion of the movie.
best movie ever….this and Tango and Cash
You are forgetting “The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh”. Now, that was one heck of a film.
And anything with Gary Coleman in it. Maybe we can have Gary Coleman host a film retrospective of his career.
Awesome! i hope people turn out!
Thanks to Frinds of Chimbo Park and Yellow House..we had a great time last night at the movie. Patrons were asked to make a small donation which is fine as I do understand the need to license the movie. I do have to ask, though, what’s up with the security? Is this a fee paid to the city of Richmond? If so, where was the security or is this just another ploy by the city to grab funds from wherever they can??
we had to hire an off duty officer for one of our movies and are trying to build up a small fund to cover this cost in the future if we are made to do so again. It costs between $150 and $200 to license a movie (which has been covered by the evening sponsors) and $125 to hire security (which came out of our limited general fund).
We appreciate the neighborhood support for movie night and hope to be able to continue this event next year.
I need to speak with someone that put this event on. I work at one of the public schools in the area and our key club would like to do one of these. I would be very appreciative to speak with a person that helped set this up to find out where do you get the license from, costs, etc.
Thanks all.
