Urban Forestry Commission moves forward
10/22/2009 8:09 PM by John M
Tuesday afternoon at the Land Use meeting was a big success in the move for an Urban Forestry Commission. A few folks spoke in support of the ordinance, and no one spoke against. Ordinance 2009-174 (PDF) now moves to the full Council meeting on Monday. Supporters of the idea are organizing to show support at Monday’s meeting:
We would like to have as many folks as possible attend the 6 o’clock session to show how much community support there is for the Urban Forestry Commission. And remember to wear a green shirt if you have one, and come prepared with all the positive reasons to have this Commission in our City.
Please come to Council. We need to demonstrate overwhelming support for the Urban Forestry Commission. Also please call the Mayor tomorrow, 646-7070 and ask him to support the ordinance.
Thanks! We cannot let up at the finish line!
And this passes unanimously on the consent agenda…
This is great news. I served on the tree commission in the last town I lived in near DC, and the public works department were happy to hand over the trees to people who knew what they were doing. The commission is long overdue in Richmond.
