Evergreen Clean-up rescheduled for November
10/28/2009 6:35 AM by John M
The big Evergreen Cemetery originally scheduled for this Saturday has been moved to Saturday, November 7th. Contact Deanna Lewis at deanna@pennycemeteryfund.org for more information about the clean-up or the Penny Cemetery Fund.
Sorry to delay it a week. The landscaping company is delayed in Tennessee finishing a big project. They wanted to return for the volunteer day but would the have had to turn around and head right back. Too much to ask as it would have cost them time and a great deal of $$$.
The additional week gives us more time to gather additional volunteers! If you, your company or Church Group would like to join us on Saturday Nov. 7th please email me at deanna@pennycemeteryfund.org

We need a notary for the day if anyone would like to volunteer for that task. Were required to have signed, notorized waivers of injury for each volunteer.
Bummer! I thought this would be a neat project to work on, but I am expected elsewhere on Nov 7.
Katherine,
There is going to be another smaller group of volunteers working there on Saturday. GO! I’m planning on dropping by and meeting them and asking if they’d like to join us on the 7th.
Looking forward to seeing as many of the CHPN “family” there this weekend.
If you do plan to join us please bring your ID. The owner is requiring that we have signed/notarized waivers of liability from everyone.
Bring your gardening tools;
* Rakes
* Gloves
* Gas/elec powered week wacker, if you have
* dress warm
* wear sturdy boots

There are LOTS of people signing up but I’d like more! Come out and enjoy the day CHPN 🙂

Deanna, do you still need the notary?
yes!
I went and notarized statements from about fifteen people, was very impressed with the crowd and the earth moving equipment from the landscaping firm.
I would like to know how and y there is so much time,money and vol, resorts, etc being fully donated to a private owned corp that also owns a few other cemeterys in Richmond that charges full rates and is a fully profitable corp, I understand the cemetery needs cleaned up ,its their responb though , look at one of their other cemteries Woodland cemetery where arthur ash is buried and u will see they dont care at all for how their cemeteries look .
Hi Ron,
Unfortunately they do not see it as their responsibility.
