Shaun Irving’s Cameratruck
10/27/2009 7:57 PM by John M
Ever wondered about that eyesore of a truck parked at Broad and 29th? Did you know that Shaun Irving uses it to take REALLY BIG photographs?
If you haven’t seen his work, you should! Phenomenal! There have been many showings around the area this year, and I’m sure they’ll be more.
very cool and inspirational. thanks for sharing.
Great video, thanks for sharing with us, John!
There was a show of some of Shaun’s photos at Rockett’s not too long ago, I couldn’t make it but know someone who did and she said the photographs were great. I used to do some pinhole stuff, but nothing big like this. He’s doing some really good stuff, very inventive.
As owner of said eyesore, I’m glad you guys appreciate the work (and tolerate the truck). I’ll admit that it’s uglier than ever right now; we’re stripping it down to bare aluminum as time, weather and money permit. The hope is to do some more shooting around Richmond in the spring with it.
I’m planning on having a couple of pieces for sale at Jingle on the James in December at Rocketts Landing… otherwise, it may be a bit until I show in the Richmond area again. I’m currently touring work from my Spain tour of 2006.
If anyone in the neighborhood ever wants to see the truck and how it works, drop me a line at info(at)cameratruck.net. Would love to show it off!
go shaun!
live across the street from this, always wondered what those guys were doing with that van! this really blew me away and was really excited to see those amazing images coming out of something like that!! awesome job
Cool post. When I take people on tours of the neighborhood I’ll have to include it! Now does anyone know what the deal is with the blue truck parked at Grace and 29th (in the dead end by the playground)?
