Homicide in Richmond 2009
01/12/2010 7:02 AM by John M
RVA News breaks down the numbers on homicides in Richmond last year:
The South Side of Richmond had 43% of the city’s homicides. Notably, the city’s East End had nine homicides, down from 12 in 2008.
This is fantastic. I would have expected the East end to be a much higher percentage than what it actually is. Can you also show this graph for prior years? It would be interesting to see what the percentage breakout was for each district in previous years compared to 2009. My hunch is that the East End comprises a smaller percentage of murders compared to what it was historically.
2009 – 9/41 (22%)
2008 – 12/32 (38%)
2007 – 13/55 (24%)
2006 – 23/81 (28%)
2005 – 24/86 (28%)
