FBI investigating Lacey for millions of dollars in investor losses
02/18/2010 5:22 PM by John M
nbc12 has a follow-up on Donald Lacey, the developer who was to have bought and renovated fixer-uppers using investors’ money but instead allegedly burnt through the cash without touching any of the myriad of vacant houses in the area:
Donald Lacey will be in court in March 15. NBC12 has been investigating complaints about Lacey for more than a year. So has the federal government, and today it charged him with two felony counts: mail fraud and unlawful monetary transactions.
The RTD has a piece on this, too: Hanover man charged in alleged real-estate scheme
Don stole money from his best friends and family members, not just strangers. He has put many people through hell for 15 months trying to fix this mess that he and his buddys created.(and all profited from through gifts of houses, cash, trips, etc.)And his wife wants to write off 47 million in debt? At all of our expense??Seriously?
Obviously this is a negotiated plea agreement, because they could have nailed him for much more–they had the evidence. And, Don is not the only one who profited from this ponzi scheme, many others in his group did as well. And there are still others in Church Hill doing the same thing today. Tick Tock, they are next.
What is McQuinn’s association with this guy and what is doing to rectify all the blighted property he has left behind.
Here’s the video from the most recent nbc12 story:
