Budget forum set for 3/24 at Franklin Military

The March issue of Mayor Jones’ Building a Better Richmond reports that upcoming Community Forums on the City Budget will be held at the following locations/dates: March 24 – Franklin Military Academy – 6 – 8 p.m., March 25 – Westover Hills Elementary School – 6 – 8 p.m., March 29 – Richmond Public Library – 6 – 8 p.m.

On March 22, I will present my FY 2011 city of Richmond budget to City Council. The city budget operational period extends from July 1 to June 30 annually and includes the city’s General Fund, Capital Improvement Plan, Special Funds, Enterprise Funds, Internal Service Funds, and the city’s contribution to Richmond Public Schools. I will hold several community forums on the city budget to gather your input into the city’s FY 2011 budget. As I’ve said several times before, we cannot tax our way out of this financial hardship, we must grow our way out. This is our opportunity to create a better future for Richmond. I invite and encourage you to attend these very important public forums.
