What’s the worst blighted property in the area?
03/30/2010 3:47 PM by John M
Following up on an idea from Phil Riggan: What’s the worst abandoned/blighted property in the area? Suggest addresses in the comments and I’ll pull in photos…
TAGGED: question
3111 E. Broad Street
1312-1314 Oakwood Avenue. Been wrapped in Tyvek for something like 5 years and the city doesn’t seem to mind.
3508 East Broad
620, 622, and 624 N 27th Street located between Leigh and M Street. Three abandoned houses in a row!!!
2115 Newbourne St.
I’m putting up 1200 North 20th Street.
Keep’em coming folks!
1211 N. 26th St.
I had high hopes for this place until someone decided to light a match. It had tons of potential, and I was really hoping BHC would make it one of their next renovations. Sigh….
Feels good to be inspirational John. I’m not a Church Hill regular, but I’ll bet your 100 vacant houses project netted the worst in the district.
618 N 30TH ST: Unfinished home wrapped in Tyvek for the least 2+ years.
2902 E LEIGH ST: This house is ready to collapse on itself. The west face is beginning to buckle.
630 N 30TH ST: Plain apartment box that is boarded up on a prominent street corner.
621 N 30TH ST: Was being renovated this year, but it looks like the owner has since given up and boarded the windows back up.
ew i was debating but i think ill agree with john 1200 N. 20th..it pretty bad.
2117 & 2119 Cedar…two of my faves.
1104 20th is pretty bad as well although its really cool with those nooks.
It would be interesting if someone were to map these locations.
That’s a good idea. I’ll be grabbing photos today & tomorrow and I’ll put it together.
It’ll be like the xmas lights tour, only blighted.
Half of the 3300 block of E Marshall St needs help
I’m not sure how bad we are talking but I know 908 N 24th St is rough.
Then a couple on the corner of pink and venable
2120 M st. The thing is an eye-sore. A lot of surrounding houses have been renovated, the rest are in good shape, all except this one.
I live across from 2120 M and kind of like it – of course it needs “to go” from a practical standpoint but my girlfriend and I refer to it affectionately as “the haunted house”. It looks like something out of an Edward Gorey drawing…
Dear Neighbors, please don’t judge. My owner too would like to see me rehabilitated. I have been in my owner’s family for many years and I hold a lot of precious memories. It has not been easy for my owner to secure finanacing. because I am considered a second residence. Hate the game not the player. I know that selling is an option that my owner is not willing to entertain. However, donations are always welcome! 🙂 sincerely, 2120 M Street.
