A message from the Friends of Chimborazo Playground:
The Dept.of Parks & Rec, in conjunction with the Friends of Chimborazo Playground, is working on a redesign of the Chimborazo Playground. Part of the redesign includes new petanque courts and we are trying to gauge neighborhood demand for bocce (the Italian equivalent of petanque). There is time to incorporate a bocce court but first we need to understand if there is interest and, if so, are there sufficient volunteers who would help in the design and construction of the court?
I’m not much interested in bocce, but I’m very interested in what Parks and Rec has in mind for a redesign. Does anyone have any details? I keep hearing rumors of an official skatepark.
YES! We live near 28th and Marshall, and we would LOVE a Bocce court! Yes Yes Yes!!!!
Is there much of a difference in the court size and shape? Can we not play bocce on petanque courts?
I’d be interested in bocce, would there be a league formed if this goes through?
I’m all about some bocce.
In reply to “wrs”- we need to adapt a Petanque court to allow bocce to be played – the size, sides and surface are different.
If indeed a court is to be adapted we need volunteers to help construct it – please contact J.Whitworth, jbwhitwo@aol.com
Yes!!! Tried about twelve or more years ago to introduce the game to students @ Armstrong High School.

It is a great good and a good way to meet your neighbors!!
