Draft of the East End Revitalization plan released for feedback
The first draft version of the plan for the revitilization of the 25th Street/Nine Mile corridor has been released:
The plan details specific proposals for a number of areas and is a result of the input from more than 1,000 people who attended the opening and closing events and the various planning sessions throughout the week. […] This version of the plan is a draft and we welcome your input and suggestions. Please send your correspondence to eastendvison@bshsi.org.
At a meeting at EDI this past Saturday, Councilwoman Newbille introduced the plan and said that they are looking for feedback on the plan from individuals and civic organizations. Planner Juanita Buster with the Department of Community Development talked more about the process moving forward and took questions from the crowd. The responses to feedback and the next steps will be shared at a meeting in October.
The plan can be download by section at East End Vision or here as a 120MB .zip file.

This ends early, my batteries died.
Laura Geller from nbc12 came out for the meeting:
I personally like the proposal for the petting zoo and the “all you can eat” ice cream. No one will invest a dollar in this let alone a square with a fountain!
This is all well and good but where is the money to pay for all this supposed to come from? Nice also that the housing project is getting all gussied up…too bad the residents will trash it again…
The renderings for the Bon Secours Hospital on 9 Mile Road are really inspiring. I hope they can get started on at least this part of the plan first.
hey SEW,what is your grind against lower income folks?you would think a poor guy did something to you that marked you for life. lemme guess poor people are dragging us down? caused the real estate crisis? stole your girl or boyfriend?if all you can do is make these knee jerk fox news comments do us all a favor and just take your crybaby ass to a nunnery or whatever perfect world only you seem to know about. do you talk to your poor neighbors or do you just keep your windows up as you scurry from your car to your domicile. this hateful anonymous nonsense only shows what a frightened little wuss you are. stifle ,edith, the adults are talking. really, really sick of the cowardice, buddycorbett
well said buddy !
Buddy, go soak your head. I, along with many others on here am tired of your bitching and name calling to anyone who has different views than you do.
For the record, I have no problem with lower income folks. All you have to do it take a look at the lovely projects over there and you can tell that those folks have no pride in their area. Everything is run down and looks like shit. They don’t take care of anything. They would probably do the same thing if they owned the property.
I, on the other hand, do rent up here and take damn good care of my house and yard. Most people would probably not even know I didn’t own my home. It’s a matter of pride.
My point was why sink God knows how much money back into the projects (yet once again) so the residents can tear it up again? The taxpayers already pay for them to live there, have their food stamps, and welfare…why should we foot the bill to make it pretty so they can neglect it? Mark my words, if that does happen…I have it 5 years and it will look exactly as it does snow!
If you disagree with me, I really don’t care. Additionally, your name calling if really old…say something useful instead of calling people names.
again you pogue you miss my point. i dont have aproblem with different viewpoints as these foster discussion and new knowledge. my problem is with cowardly anonymous pussies like yourself who want to appear “edgy” and make snarky prejudiced remarks with no repercussions. go soakYOUR head you jerkoff and drown your craven ass while your at it. hey john i know i am talking to my neighbor its just hard to show any respect to someone with so much hidden malice to spew. try being upfront.it might be possible to have a conversation with you and it might even be freeing to you .i mean there has to be a little pressure in maintaining your secret identity you firebrand you.buddycorbett
if you want to have a discussion about issues fine. keep your cybername. never had a problem with it. if you want to ACT tough and run your mouth like you are a badass, sign your name. otherwise i promise you i WILL call you out and light you up. attack me?FEEL FREE ,but if you do it anonymously i cant hear you because your lack of courage makes me laugh…..a lot. buddycorbett
SEW doesn’t get it. he (or she) is a classist, closet racist… or maybe he’s come out of the closet.
it is sad that there is a small percentage of people on chpn who run their mouths with little potshots AGAINST the rest of us who live here in the neighborhood. some folks are in denial of the problems of the community… and they break it down by wanting the “undesirable” element of the neighborhood to just go away.
It’s sadden me to hear the name calling and character bashing when the true problem is not the people in the housing projects but the politics of RRHA. Those people are feeling displaced and they feel we’re the reason they will no longer be able afford the updated public housing. RRHA is doing a number on all of us. Give those people voucher to move into the large inventory of surplus housing within metro Richmond and remove that eye sore of New Act housing from the area. Seventh district has the largest number of public housing units in the city and will continue until the powers that be don’t want to be in power. Create better housing you will begin to see better people. Teach a man to fish……
“SEW doesn’t get it. he (or she) is a classist, closet racist… or maybe he’s come out of the closet.”
Hummm…did I even mention the color of someone’s skin? No! Jump on that race card church.hill.4life! And poeple wonder why race relations don’t get any better in Richmond…
numbers 10 and 11……you dont help your arguments with your self righteous arguments and posturing. dont you get it?cowardly anonymonity doesnt win any points with your neighbors. if you want respect quit hiding behind your cybermoms skirts.buddycorbett
Buddy, you are part the real problem with Church Hill. Too many ignorant people voicing their opinions on things they don’t understand. Then your real argument is that you hate people using the internet anonymously. Welcome to the internet, old man. BTW, speaking of anonymity (note the way it is supposed to be spelled), I posted your public info the other day just to prove a point about the importance of remaining anonymous on public forums.
Good Morning All..This East End Transformational Plan is really very nice. A walkable neighborhood is also very nice. It sure would be healthy for all of us but a project this size?? Where does all the money come from especially since the current Congress and Administration has bankrupted our Country. The Bush tax cuts are due to expire and we will have to pay all those taxes as well as the 20 hidden taxes in the Health Care Bill. (You can look all this up to find out it is true) So I set out to find out what exactly is going on and this is what I have found out. Our City has signed on the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI)USA member list and International member list. I know you will think this is way out in left field but it is real and very active here in this country. It is a United Nations initiative to take control of your water, planning, property rights, transporation, housing, education and your freedom and liberty. This has been going on since the early 1990’s and started with George Bush (the father)
who signed the Earth Summit Treaty at the United Nations Rio Summitt. Nothing was ever done with the treaty until Bill Clinton was elected. At that time he by executive order established Environmental Protection Agency Committees whose job it was to begin implementing the Agenda 21 Protocal. Folks this plan is evil and we will all be slaves. My Husband and I would love to speak to small groups of Church Hill residents to share what we have learned and let you know what you can do about this initiative. Oh by the way, this initiative promotes crime and you know our City Government wouldn’t be involved in such things. All of this can be checked out on line. google: United Nations Agenda 21, United Nations Sustainable Development, ICLEI and the list goes on and on.
#14 –
Carolyn, are you mixing paranoia and Tea-bags in your morning coffee?
— “It is a United Nations initiative to take control of your water, planning, property rights, transpor[t]ation, housing, education and your freedom and liberty.” — “Folks this plan is evil and we will all be slaves.”— “Oh by the way, this initiative promotes crime…”
Following your rhetoric, i can only say:
BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!
OMG, I am having trouble breathing b/c I am laughing so hard. Thank you for your post Carolyn, it has been a hit at around the office. You’ve inspired us to spend the morning making aluminum foil hats to make sure the government (or the UN or that guy with the cat from the Autsin Powers movies) can’t read our minds. Ha, ha, ha.
hey james if u have acrush on me just say so. all this time and energy wasted because deep down u know u r wrong. post away you weakkneed wannabe at some point the bad karma bus will roll right over u. post my info, really.u r one pathetic excuse for a ….whatever your supposed to be. please if u see me introduce yourself. the only thing u have to fear is fear itself.odds on james growing a set?between slim and none and slim just left the building.buddycorbett
Yes buddy, I have bad karma because I am telling an ignorant old man to keep his mouth shut. You are the one constantly insulting your neighbors and posting degrading comments towards them. I posted your info because you make your identity public. Anonymity is safer with all the identity theft and internet crime. Also, people don’t need weak minded individuals like you looking up their info and showing up at their house to harm them or their families. After all, your constant offers to “meet” people wreaks of violent aggression. I am sure that aggression toward your neighbors will make Church Hill a better place to live, right?
wow i was so busy laughing at little jimmy and his hijinks i almost missed #14. carolyn there arent enough smart people in the world to pull off a conspiracy of this size. i wish there was a mastermind behind all the worlds ills. unfortunately for us the actual banality of evil is the problem. we look everywhere for the devil and then we find out its just a dork in a red bodysuit.evil exists….but not as an entity. its just u and i and all the religion in the world cant manufacture a better villain than looks back at us in the mirror.buddycorbett
james i swear u really r exactly what i laugh about. u talk shit, insult people and threaten to post their public info and then hysterically claim u r being threatened. take a valium u pissy little twat. u might feel better if u could get over your own issues. after months of listening to u moan impotently i have realized there can be no real conversation with the will o the wisp called james. whats your next move? lemme guess,u will post under another name so u can agree with yourself. there nothing wrong with posting anonymously sweetie but if u r gonna wax so wrathfully show the wherewithal to out yourself. i mean it cant be the first time THAT has ever come up right?buddycorbett
This is by far the most humorous comment section I’ve read on CHPN to date.
I don’t know, The King’s Retreat thread was pretty good.
http://chpn.net/news/2008/09/09/kings-maidens-3700-east-broad-wtf_2350/
Although post #14 on this thread really takes the cake. unbelievable!!!!!
I looked at the proposal and was concerned about some of the businesses that will be displaced. I know the Family Dollar and the laundromat lack curb appeal, but I feel like North Church Hill needs them.
A walkable neighborhood is nice, but how else will neighborhood residents benefit from this plan? Will the people who live here get jobs building this, or in all the new little shops? How does making the hospital entrance look nicer improve quality of care or safety? I’d rather they hire more nurses or update the emergency room.
I’m not convinced that a facelift is what the neighborhood needs most.

How serious is this??
Buddy, when have I ever insulted anyone but you? Most of the people on this site are rather cordial. You are the only one that continuously insults people and you are also the one bitching about anonymous posts. Why do you care if people post anonymously? The only reason one would want to physically know the people posting here is if they wished to take things up with them personally. That sounds like your modus operandi.
I am not afraid of you and have no desire to ever talk to you in person. I have no time or desire to socialize with an obtuse person like you. I have met several people that post on here and they have all been rather kindhearted people that provide many opportunities for intelligent conversation. When you decide to be mature about internet disagreements, I will have no problem meeting you. Until that happens, you will have to deal with my anonymity. In the mean time, I advise you concentrate more on your literary skills.
James and Buddy: You guys are insane. James why are you still talking to this guy? Buddy, Why are you so hostile. If if James is a racist, do you think conversation will result in anythin positive.
Also, worst case, if you attack him your ass WILL end up in jail and have confirmed his racist ideas (assumming James is a racist).
Either way, YOU loose.
Just a thought.
Buddy & James, seriously??
conversation is talk. threatening to post peoples personal info is an attack. my hostility has more to do with people pretending to champion individual rights while using their forum to say shit to people they would never have the courage to say in person. i dont think james is aracist. i only know him by his kvetching. hiding behind a lame pseudonym while talking like a tough guy is a cowardly, pussified way to disagree with somebody. assault james?why and how? its much more fun to listen to him wail and gnash his teeth. again ,if u want to post under a pseudonym….fine. if u want to be a turd in the garden of life then i will figuratively turn u into fertilizer. people argue on facebook all the time withot such drama, why is chpn so full of prima donnas.?if u dont like to talk to me then dont.please quit acting like i would waste my timetracking down a toerag like lil jimmy. as if!ok all done with this thread.bubye.buddycorbett
Bill, How am I racist? Buddy and I are part of the same race. I am honestly confused here.
NewGuy, sorry if you have a problem with my posts. I am just tired of trying to ignore the posts bashing everyone on here. I have admitted that I agree with some of the points Mr. Corbett makes on certain issues. However, I just can’t understand why he refuses to convey his message in a polite manner. All his arguments are ended by the anti-anonymity message, which really gets old.
It is no wonder that the people in Congress and the current administration considers the American people to be stupid (you can look that up too) Brad and Tinsel..your careless comments only show you did not look anything up, you are afraid to look it up or you just don’t care. If anyone signs onto the East End Transformational Plan without digging deeper into what it is all about “You Get What You Desire.” Why not google The Joyce Foundation, The Chicago Climate Exchange, Maurice Strong and see what you get. It is all related. A web of deceit and corruption for greed and power.
Where are we supposed to put legitimate comments on this plan? I feel sorry for anyone having to weed through this muck.
