TAGGED: election
I don’t care if you write in Robert Huotari: just vote for anybody but Bobby Scott!
Thanks for posting, John. More info on the amendments can be found here.
John, thanks for posting the sample ballot, I had no idea we had some special amendments to vote on. Really appreciate getting the heads-up.
Please…..please consider voting for Mr Chuck Smith. It’s time to return integrity to this district.
Again, I respectfully ask that you consider voting for Chuck Smith today.
Thank You.
will NOT be voting for Chuck Smith. Do not see how any integrity will ‘return’ to the district by way of his election. I am, however, considering voting for Quigley, after reading some stuff he’s said. Am I crazy? I’m a life-long Dem. But I like what I’ve heard. Anyone?
The polls were great this AM. In and out in less than 10 minutes! NOTHING like ’08 with the 2 hour, around the block line!
Voted at 7:10 AM, no line at all.
Of note, the city has no parking signs on M Street in front of the EDI building. (due to paving) The paving is “complete”, but the signs are still there.
I arrived at 8:15 to a line that was almost out the door. Turns out, there were two lines. One for A-H and another for the rest of the alphabet. A-H! I stood in line for a half hour in the “rest of the alphabet” line while the A-H line remained empty. The woman manning that line just sitting back, doing nothing. I counted 11 voting machines and no more than three people voting at a time. When the line started to get restless, we were told: “A little patience goes a long way.” Yeah? So does literacy!
I noticed the same delays at 8am.
Apparently, around 8:45, they only bothered to turn on one voting machine at 31st Street Baptist. I was the only voter at the time. Go apathy!
Two were on as of 3:15. My voting/ticket number was 312. Hopefully there were at least that many who came to 31st Baptist.
I’m gonna be as nice about this as I can. The I-Z line was not exactly being manned by Quick Draw McGraw when I was there at 7AM. Some of the more methodological among us take longer than others. But rest assured, no one with a last name from I to Z voted who wasn’t registered!
We were there around 5pm and there was a line for A-H while the other 2 lines were completely empty. Go figure.
Call the Registrar and volunteer to be a voting official next election (House of Delegates, next year). She always has a problem filling the list. I think you even get paid. Of course, it does reduce the opportunity to complain.
@Wobobee – What does literacy have to do with patience? Does your name imply that you are for Bobby Scott? Just curious. Wobobee, wow, what a name!
@All. Kudos for coming out and voting in the manner that reflects your aspirations! Thanks John for posting the ballot!
#14 david – used to be, the pay was around $50 for the entire day, which starts around 5 a.m. and ends after 7 p.m. I had no problem with lines at precinct 707 but I voted around 2 p.m. which is usually a down time. Early morning, noon and 4-6 p.m. are usually busy times. Did notice two new poll workers inside, including one who was very efficient, in addition to the old timers who turn out year after year.
Cordieb: Literacy has everything to do with understanding how to split the alphabet into equal parts, so that we do not have one empty line dedicated to only eight letters, while the other line is jammed for an hour with the other unfortunates whose last names begin with the remaining 18 letters. Being told to be patient under those circumstances was a little absurd, that’s all.
To answer your second question, wobobee is a nickname from my childhood. Not political, not even my choice, but it works, I suppose, as an alias.
