Give Me Liberty Reenactment

1:00 pm – Free tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
1:30 pm – lecture by Brent Tarter on Henrico Parish Church during the Colonial and Revolutionary periods, followed by a
2:00 pm – reenactment of Patrick Henry’s Liberty or Death speech
This event is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5.00. As long as guests are in line by 1:00pm they will receive a ticket.
The event will be held at St. John’s Church, 2401 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23223
Reservations are available for groups of ten or more, up to 100 reserved seats. Permission from the Executive Director is required for any reservation above 100 and smaller than ten. There are no reservations for individuals.

Birthday cake and punch will be served in the Visitor Center between performances. There will be a Washington-related scavenger hunt in the graveyard. Cost is $5.00 a person – this includes the presentation, scavenger hunt, and refreshments.

Seed starting segment: Learn how to grown your own vegetables and flowers by starting them from seed. We’ll discuss everything you need to know to successfully start seeds for your garden, how to prepare your garden soil & how to care for your young seedlings. We’ll also discuss popular vegetable varieties that will grow well in this area.
Cold Frame segment: Learn about the benefits of using a cold frame in your garden, growing a winter greens crop, and starting your seeds early! We will discuss the use of cloches and various types of simple cold frames. Each participant will go home with a small cold frame that you will learn how to build yourself! FYI – the Church Hill Central meeting tonight has NOT, I repeat NOT, been canceled.
We will be meeting this evening at the Robinson Theater (2903 Q St) at 7PM. Topics include:
– a conversation with Lisa Taranto of Tricycle Gardens about their new location at N. 21st St. and Jefferson Ave.
– a public safety update from the Richmond Police Department
– a discussion of the special use permit request for the new restaurant at the old Que Pasa location
– a discussion of a joint National Night Out event with several other area civic associations
– an update on the proposed Church Hill 5K race
